CASE STUDY: ANGLED DRAINAGE HELPS FINISH HIGH SCHOOL TRACK IN RECORD TIME

PATENTED ANGLED DRAINAGE SYSTEM FROM NDS PROVES IT CAN GO THE DISTANCE FOR CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL TRACK PROJECT 

Mid-Carolina high school is a top 100 school located in the town of Prosperity, SC. With more than 700 students and high athletic participation, the school faculty set out to build an all-new track for the athletic program. The construction company and distributor were looking for a partner that could assist in the design process for the channel drainage and help ensure the best solution for this application was chosen. 

NDS DESIGNWORX PROVED ESSENTIAL FOR PROJECT 

The team from NDS DesignWorx, comprised of engineers and CAD technicians who help with design support and the preparation of layouts, recommended its NDS DuraSlope channel drain. They provided  a comprehensive roadmap for all the components as well as instructions on how the system should be installed. This ultimately helped during both quoting and installation.  

Not only did DuraSlope match the design criteria for handling the amount of sheet flow needed around the track’s perimeter, but it’s engineered to provide long runs of channel with the minimum amount of outlets and catch basins. The system’s flex couplings also allow 3° of movement between each channel section, making an 80' to 120' radius easy to achieve, seamlessly marrying the drain to the “D” areas of the track. 

The system is a fraction of the weight of polymer concrete; it doesn’t break, which reduces loss on the jobsite and includes interlocking pieces that snap smoothly into place.  

These features helped save the team time and labor and made for an easier installation process compared to competitive products. In addition, construction covers were included on the material to help keep the channels clean and ready for the grate installation when construction was complete.  

PROJECT COMPLETED IN RECORD TIME 

NDS helped streamline the overall process – by handling the layout and files specific to the channel drain. This gave the designer a turnkey solution that included a full materials list, necessary CAD files and final design criteria. The team was able to stay organized and stage the product accordingly to help speed installation. With products clearly marked and labeled on delivery and simple to match up, the project timeline remained intact and construction on schedule.
