CASE STUDY: PRE-SLOPED TRENCH DRAINS FOR POOL PERIMETER

Cherokee Country Club is a sprawling establishment that has been catering to Knoxville, Tennessee for over 100 years. The club is home to golf courses, athletic courts, restaurants, and now a brand new pool complex. Sporting a large multi-leveled patio area, this new complex required a relatively intricate drainage system that could reliably collect and convey water for a large outdoor area segmented into multiple levels. The installer on the project decided that Dura Slope Trench Drains by NDS would provide the performance and flexibility needed to create an effective perimeter drain.

Dura Slope is a pre-sloped trench drain with wide, durable sections for handling high volumes of water. Even with this high-performance system in place, it would still have to be designed to maintain optimal flow rates throughout a system of varying grades and elevations. Each run of the system had to work independently with its own specified design needs, but still work as part of a greater system to drain water effectively. To achieve this without having a fully interconnected system, installers utilized Dura Slope’s selection of pre-sloped channels in varying depths between 4” and 12” to maintain optimum ow rates. Though Dura Slope is typically used in industrial applications due to the high vehicle load rating, it offers a variety of grate design choices that make it well-suited for these kinds of commercial applications as well. At the end of the project, Cherokee Country Club had approx 634 sq feet of Dura Slope that perfectly blends with the pool’s aesthetic.
